About Paul Veitch

Paul Veitch is a professional software developer based in Sydney Australia with experience in developing a wide range of solutions using varying technologies including .net, asp.net, c#, Lotus Notes and Domino (4.6x, 5.x), IIS and SQL Server (2000) as well as Visual Basic applications, Access and Office based solutions. He has a long history in the IT industry, with a solid grounding in all aspects of computers, technology and software design - it is this personal experience of computer use that gives him his unique ability to view software development from a high level strategy to the low level detail of implementing effective, easy to use and maintain software applications.

Paul has a Bachelor of Science Upper Second Class (2:1) Honours degree in Software Engineering from Kingston University in the UK. As part of his degree he completed a year of Industrial Training with a multinational Pharmaceutical company as part of their UK and European Medical IT department where he developed a high profile for developing high quality, business oriented applications that were in high demand across the European region.

After completing his degree and a short contract in the UK, he moved to their Australian operations where he developed a number of cost saving applications that delivered significant business benefits. The applications developed were used Australia wide by over 450 sales staff and 350 office based staff, one application involved credit card expense claims, based on electronic data from the company's credit card provider being channelled to the claimant for approval and reconciliation and routing for approval by management and accounts. Eventually the approved transaction data was placed in the company's financial system for payment to the Credit Card company.

After completing his contract with the Australian based pharmaceutical company he was employed by a Big 5 financial services company in their tax service line in a new start-up software development company that developed large scale applications for the tax practice and on-sold to external clients. In this new software company Paul was given the role of Senior Notes Developer with overall responsibility for development and maintenance of new and existing (over 50) Notes applications for the tax practice and operational management of the Notes development team, he was also given responsibility for developing the company's knowledge management strategy for the tax practice and migration away from Notes onto an integrated Knowledge management platform based on browser technology. Before this task was completed Paul and the entire Notes development team were moved to be a part of the larger Company wide development team in a focussing of the software company's role so that they could commit all their energies toward 2 core tax products. Paul was project managing the migration of the entire Notes application infrastructure onto alternate platforms including IIS and SQL 2000 after a global decision to switch technologies.

Subsequently Paul moved back to the tax technology division and is now working on a large-scale web based tax management solution as a Senior Developer. The system is being developed in the .net framework, using c# and asp.net, utilising the RUP process.
